LOFOTEN PEAT MUSEUM

Welcome to
Fredvang and Lofoten

Fredvang is located in the borough of Flakstad, on the northern tip of the island of Moskenesøy. About 200 people live there, and the main industries are fishing and farming. The place is known for its flat arable fields, which there are otherwise so few of this far west in the Lofoten Islands. After the bridge was built over to Fredvang in 1988, tourism has also become an important industry, creating a number of new jobs.

Ramberg, which is 8 km away, is the municipal centre of the borough and there are shops and postal services there.

Leknes, the “capital” of Lofoten, is 35 km from Fredvang.
Fredvang is really quite centrally situated in Lofoten. Leknes Airport is about a 30 minute drive away, as is Moskenes with its daily ferry links with Bodø. The Hurtigruten coastal voyage vessels call at Stamsund which is a 45 minute drive away.
